Over the summer we’ve been busy surveying residents and visitors about a pedestrian environment in a small coastal setting and spatial equity.
One of the issues is growing levels of income inequality and changing expectations. The others are an ageing population and frightening levels of fast moving traffic.
What we were hoping to do is promote informed conversation, debate and thought on how people get about in town now, and how to improve their conditions thinking though promoting equity and environmental considerations. We are still waiting for the survey to close but material behind it, a Preliminary Equity Impact Assessment was provided as background to residents.
Useful? We’ll see, but definitely part of the changing landscape for considering rebalancing transport environments to promote inclusion conditions for the least able.
