Healthy Parks, Schools and Communities: Mapping Green Access and Equity

Hows this for evidence informed decision making.

The City Project in Los Angeles has created a fantastic set of online maps illustrating the linkages between healthy parks and equity. They’ve thought about most things. Who the people are, their access to green space and rivers, racial diversity, obesity, and educational outcomes.

Although the set provides no commentary it leads us to easily and visually understand the interconnections and how the evidence plays out spatially. The Public Health and Well Being Act in Victoria promotes similar responses – an analysis of the evidence in place, equitable outcomes, and outcomes which promote better health across the life course and into future generations. Well done the City Project!
